Queensland’s community services peak body, the Queensland Council of Social Service (QCOSS), congratulates the Honourable David Crisafulli on becoming the state’s 41st Premier and the Liberal National Party on their election victory.
QCOSS extends our thanks to the outgoing government and Queensland’s 40th Premier, Steven Miles for their service to Queensland.
For 65 years, QCOSS has been the voice of Queensland’s community service sector, committed to working toward equality, opportunity, and wellbeing for all Queenslanders.
QCOSS looks forward to working with the incoming Queensland Government as they address the pressing challenges facing too many Queenslanders.
Right now, families across the state are living day-by-day, unable to afford the basics.
The housing crisis has resulted in families living in cars, parks, and tents because there is not enough affordable housing. We congratulate the incoming government on its commitment to building record numbers of social houses and we look forward to supporting transparent implementation.
As the peak body for Domestic and Family Violence services, QCOSS looks forward to working with the Crisafulli Government on an investment plan that must ensure organisations have the resources they need to deliver more lifesaving services in their communities.
With the election now behind us, it is now time for the new Premier to honour his commitment to being a compassionate leader, addressing the systemic issues at the root of youth crime by investing in long-term solutions that create a safer community and life-changing outcomes for young people.
