Queensland Election Platform 2024 and responses
To understand the commitments being made by all parties in response to the priorities of Queensland’s community service sector, QCOSS wrote to all parties seeking their responses. Responses were provided by Labor, the LNP and the Greens.
Submission: Australia’s Youth Justice and Incarceration System

Report: Queensland local government’s role in addressing the housing crisis
Local councils across Queensland have long demonstrated a commitment to improve the housing situation for vulnerable people in their communities. In the context of the state’s current housing “crisis”, it is important that local governments continue to play an active role in improving housing outcomes for affected population groups.
Report: Living affordability in Queensland 2024
The QCOSS annual Living Affordability in Queensland report aims to determine whether low-income households in Queensland can afford a basic standard of living. The 2024 report documents the severe financial stress and deprivation faced by the most vulnerable households in Queensland reliant on income support payments, and the growing “working poor” families who are also in need of support to make ends meet.

Submission: National Housing and Homelessness Plan 2024 Bill
QCOSS strongly supports implementation of the Bill as it will establish institutional architecture to lead and implement rights-based, long-term national housing and homelessness policy.
Submission: Child Safe Organisations Bill 2024
QCOSS welcomes the Queensland Government’s commitment to implement recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
Queensland Election Platform 2024: A fair share for all Queenslanders
While many Queenslanders are struggling with the cost of living, the state’s economy has been touted as the strongest in the nation. While Queensland’s budget position is strong, the pressure on household budgets is crippling. This election is the time for both major parties to commit to giving Queenslanders a fair share of the state’s prosperity.
Submission: Respect at Work and Other Matters Amendment Bill 2024
QCOSS welcomes many of the changes introduced by the Respect at Work and Other Matters Amendment Bill 2024 (Qld) which will advance Queensland’s equality laws on numerous fronts.
