Job Description:

KICS Kinship & Foster Care focuses on securing stable and enduring kinship & foster care placements for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander children and young people in the context of their whole family.

KICS Family Care Finder focuses on identifying kinship placements and connections for children and young people in the context of their whole family and community.

KICS is a partnership service delivered by Kummara Association Inc. & Infinity Community Solutions Ltd. 

KICS is a child and young person centred, whole-of-family focused out-of-home care service resting on the foundation practice framework of the Family Partnership Model.

The service provides out-of-home care support while maintaining a whole-of-family lens focused on wellbeing, attachment and bonding through case management and the application of family-led decision-making principles.

  • The KICS Kinship & Foster Care service focuses on securing stable and enduring kinship & foster care placements children and young people with complex support needs, in the context of their whole family.
  • The KICS Family Care Finder focuses on identifying kinship placements and connections for children and young people in the context of their whole family and community.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assess, train, support and monitor the Statement of Standards of Care for children and young people in placements with kinship & foster care
  • Provide primary and respite placement assessments
  • Regular home visits to monitor the Statements of Standards of Care and provide support
  • Negotiate carer placement agreements
  • Formulating Placement Care Plans
  • Family care finding and kin mapping to assist with primary or short break placement options while strengthening family, cultural and community connections and identity.

Who we are looking for:

  • Somone that holds or is working towards completion of a diploma in child, youth or family intervention or tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, counselling or a related field (essential)
  • Has a Current C class Australian driving license as you will be required to drive a company vehicle (essential)
  • Holds or is able to complete all required criminal history checks as applicable to the role (essential)
  • Valid working rights in Australia
  • Has good working knowledge of relevant legislation impacting the Child Protection sector and experience working in the child protection or family support sector
  • Is highly committed, resourceful and have a passion for delivering a high standard of service
