Your new position: 

As our Sector Development Officer, with a focus on Human Rights, you will: 

• develop and deliver a range of innovative programs, information and resources that enhance the capacity of the community services sector, including supporting the sector to be human rights respecting 

• collaborate closely with a diverse range of QCOSS members and stakeholders, including subject matter experts, from across the community services sector 

• provide advice and assistance, relevant to the role, specifically regarding sector capacity to be human rights respecting, to contribute to overall organisational delivery of policy submissions, consultations, and project deliverables 

• undertake research to better understand the needs of communities and key stakeholders, and provide advice and develop and implement strategies to respond to these identified needs  

• contribute to the development of the design, monitoring and evaluation of sector capacity building and engagement activities  

• prepare a range of quality, evidenced-based reports. 

About you: 

We are seeking a passionate, driven, talented and innovative individual to lead our work with the community services sector, embedding a Human Rights respecting culture in Queensland, and you: 

• have a minimum of 5 years relevant experience to fulfil the requirements of the position (Tertiary qualifications in law or human services desirable) 

• have a commitment to social justice and human rights 

• have experience in understanding and applying the rights outlined in Queensland’s Human Rights Act 2019 

• are highly collaborative with a gift for bringing people together. 

In addition, the following mandatory requirement applies: 

• Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.  

This is not just a job, it’s a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the implementation of the Human Rights Act 2019 at an operational level across Queensland. You will be working with community services across the state to understand how the Act can enhance and elevate their work.   

You will also collect and share the views of the community services sector on how the Act can be reviewed and reformed to best serve Queensland’s communities. 

What you will get: 

We will offer you a full time (38 hrs/week) permanent, exciting and rewarding position, and a great place to work. Consideration will be given to requests for part-time hours of 30.4 hours/week.  

All this plus a competitive remuneration package between $99,333 – $103,819 per annum (pro rata part-time) dependent on relevant qualifications and experience to fulfil the requirements of the position.  

Superannuation of 12.5% and salary packaging benefits apply in addition to flexible work arrangements including working from home, flex time and time off in lieu provisions.
