Conscious leadership for new leaders (three-part series)

Registration is closed for this event
This introductory series will unpack some of the most critical leadership skills required by human services and community sector leaders. It’s aimed at leaders who are either brand-new or have one to two years’ experience.

Community sector leaders must both steward their team’s practice and guide them towards a bigger vision. Leadership is critical to a team’s capacity to deliver quality services and an organisation’s sustainability. Effective leadership can impact a worker’s decision to stay in an organisation, or even the sector.

However, leaders often miss out on critical skill development when they move from frontline service delivery into leadership roles. While you might learn to fill rosters and sign off on paperwork, leaders are often left to learn the critical skills and knowledge on the job.

Leadership can be purposeful and satisfying. But it also requires you to have courageous conversations, respond to team dynamics, and supervise complex practice challenges. This introductory series will unpack some of the most critical leadership skills required by human services and community sector leaders. It’s aimed at leaders who are either brand-new or have one to two years’ experience.

The three sessions address the fundamental principles of contemporary leadership as well as the requirements for leading people who work with people experiencing trauma and adversity. You can expect to experience personal growth and insight while building your confidence and leadership toolkit. You will have the opportunity to network with others in similar positions across the sector.
