YFS seeks an experienced Solicitor to join the YFS Legal team. The Legal Service is an integral part of YFS providing free legal advice, community education and court representation in criminal and domestic violence duty lawyer areas.
We are looking for an applicant that is resilient, robust and enthusiastic about providing quality legal advice to people who are financially disadvantaged in Logan City.
YFS Legal is looking for a generalist lawyer. The successful applicant will be passionate about delivering front line legal services to the local community. Specific duties include:
- Providing a Duty Lawyer service at Beenleigh Magistrates Court for Respondents, which includes advice and representation in Court;
- providing legal community education; and
- providing advice, information and referrals in the areas of family law, domestic violence and civil law.
A broad legal knowledge is required and a demonstration of being able to work to the best practice guidelines for lawyers working with respondents in domestic violence proceedings. Experience in family law is highly desirable.
Applicants are required to have a practising certificate from either the Queensland Law Society or the Bar Association of Queensland. A current Queensland C Class driver’s licence is required. The successful applicant must have (or the ability to obtain) a Positive Blue Card Notice and Disability Services Yellow Card Exemption Notice.
