People who are financially disadvantaged can be vulnerable to complex and interconnected problems related to family law, domestic violence, tenancy and debt, and may not understand their legal rights and responsibilities or where to go for help.
The forum will feature a Q & A panel and presentations from QCOSS, Legal Aid Queensland and Tenants Queensland about:
- how to manage a jointly held debt in/from a violent relationship or after divorce or separation;
- new hardship options available from the Banking Industry;
- tips for prevention and an overview of the essential services industry response to debt in DV situations;
- the role of Tenants Queensland / QSTARS in assisting tenants who have disputes with lessors and brief overview of options for people whose tenancy is affected by DV
