RAF supports and promotes participation in, and access to, Australia’s arts and culture in regional and remote Australia by:
- Encouraging and supporting sustainable economic, social and cultural development in regional communities.
- Developing partnerships and networks which leverage financial and/or in-kind support for specific projects and encourage ongoing collaboration.
- Developing audiences and broadening community engagement with the arts.
- Increasing employment and professional development opportunities for, and raising the profile of, regional and remote artists.

Grants of up to $3,000 are available. The 2016-17 funding Round 2 opened 1 July and closes 30 November 2017.

The program will close sooner than the closing date if funds have been fully expended for each round. Projects must commence a minimum of four weeks after application is received.
