The Queensland Indigenous Land and Sea Grant program provides Indigenous communities with grants of up to $75,000 to support projects that build their capacity to conserve environmental and cultural resources. The program supports on-ground environmental and cultural heritage projects on Indigenous peoples’ lands that effectively build collaborative relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders and organisations.
Activities funded through the program include (but are not limited to):
- cultural heritage site management (recording, protection and training)
- protected species monitoring and conservation
- feral animal management
- fire management
- erosion control
- habitat restoration
- weed control
- the development and implementation of country management plans.
The 2017–18 funding round is now open. Applications are invited until 5pm, Thursday 17 August 2017.
