The QCOSS State Conference 2017 will be held on 31 October and 1 November at The Gabba in Brisbane. The theme of the conference is Dream it. Do it. We will be focusing on people who have approached their business differently - people who have seen a challenge and gone about solving it in an out of the box way or beyond the funding cycle.
Our keynote speakers will set the scene. What is the context in which we are working? What are our collective and overarching challenges? We will then explore innovation and what that is and how a different approach to thinking can help us rise to challenges differently.
We are pleased to welcome Belinda Bell from the UK who will discuss social innovation around the world from her perspective. Belinda Bell is Programme Director of Cambridge Social Ventures, at Cambridge Judge Business School, supporting a wide range of businesses making social and environmental impact. She is a social entrepreneur herself having established a range of social ventures including those focusing on finance, ageing and young people.
Our morning session of concurrent speakers will focus on the 'what' of their achievements. We will split speakers into four groups focusing on QCOSS' four focus areas:
- place-based approached
- citizen-led policy development
- cost-of-living advocacy
- sector capacity and capability building.
Our afternoon concurrent sessions will be workshops and give you some tools for 'how' to innovate and approach things differently. We will again stream these sessions in the four QCOSS focus areas.
The second day will comprise two masterclasses – one on innovation and collaboration; and another titled ‘Click NGO’ which is a specialist event for community service organisations who are looking to get ideas and information on digital trends to support service delivery and client engagement.
