A free full day workshop for people working with children aged 3-6. Essential knowledge about protecting children from abuse and neglect and developing a whole-of-community approach to promoting child wellbeing. A great way to ensure that staff are well trained and that organisations are responding to the recommendations from the Royal Commission.

Protective Behaviours "A Whole of Community Responsibility" workshop has been developed to provide workers in child related industries with an enhanced understanding of prevention activities and equip them with strategies that promote child wellbeing and safety. The program also incorporates the All Children Being Safe (ACBS) program which is designed to educate children and community members in a non-threatening manner about the role adults/communities play in keeping them safe. ACBS explores messages around safety with children through the use of storytelling and interactive activities.

The workshop is aimed at people working with children aged three (3) to six (6) years.

Course Outcomes - Participants will gain knowledge and skills to:

  • Respond to child disclosures of maltreatment;

  • Assist children to develop knowledge and strategies that increase their safety (including what it means to be safe, early warning signs and developing safety networks);

  • Understand the importance of protective behaviours and prevention strategies;

  • Provide strategies for the implementation of All Children Being Safe; and

  • Develop community based responses to child wellbeing.

Duration: One full-day

Who should attend: Early childhood educators (including Family Day Care educators) and Directors, primary school teachers and others in child related industries.
