One-on-one or small group support – to assist organisations that are new to HSQF to implement a quality system and prepare for their quality assessment activities. Organisations can self-refer using the Online Referral form for access to QCOSS support or be referred by their departmental contract manager.

The Queensland Council of Social Service (QCOSS) is providing a range of supports to assist the sector to implement Human Services Quality Framework (HSQF). These supports are primarily targeted at organisations funded under the Community Services and Child and Family funding streams that are transitioning to HSQF for the first time.

Emerging Voices has participated in each phase and most recently undertook targeted engagement in phase 3.

QCOSS undertook the Enabling Local Communities project as a means to analyse existing local service systems to determine what would strengthen appropriate and stable housing outcomes for people. The project also aimed to develop, implement and embed the practices and processes needed to achieve service and sector integration in a sustainable way.

Focused on achieving the goal of increased participation in ECEC, the EMBRACE team organised the Embracing Cultural Diversity in Early Childhood Conference, held in Brisbane on 17 and 18 November 2015.

It is universally accepted that participation in quality early childhood education and care programs has a strong connection to better outcomes for children across a range of health and wellbeing indicators. It provides a strong foundation to prepare children for formal schooling, improves learning outcomes, language development, and social and behavioural skills. The broader benefits to society from investing in a positive start in life for children include; enhanced human capital, greater social inclusion, increased economic productivity, and reduction in health expenditure, welfare and crime during the course of a lifetime.

QCOSS has made a submission to the Queensland Productivity Commission on its Draft Report - Electricity Pricing Inquiry. In our submission we focus on the recommendations which are specifically targeted at minimising the impact of electricity prices on vulnerable and disadvantaged Queenslanders.

The expert panel session was facilitated by SBS journalist Jenny Brockie and presented ‘Insight’ style. To facilitate debate, eight chairs were positioned in a circle on the stage. The panel members were be seated in seven of them and the eighth remained empty....
