The Queensland Government has commissioned an Expert Panel to conduct a public inquiry to guide the development of a renewable energy strategy for Queensland. The objectives of the review are to investigate and report on the costs and benefits of adopting a target of 50% renewable energy in Queensland by 2030, and other complementary policies to drive the development of a renewable energy economy in Queensland.

From 1 January 2017, when calculating eligibility for family assistance and youth income support payments, 100 per cent of reportable fringe benefits will be counted as income, instead of the current 51 per cent.

QCOSS, in partnership with Tenants Queensland and QShelter, has secured funding from Energy Consumers Australia to undertake research into the energy issues for tenants in Queensland. The research will consider energy consumer issues for households living in a variety of rental tenure arrangements across Queensland. The purpose is to gather evidence to enable tenants to be adequately represented in national and state energy policy processes.

At the end of the campaign more than 350 Queenslanders and their families have found appropriate, stable accommodation. In all, more than 4000 people have been surveyed. This includes children, partners, head of families and individuals.
