The Queensland Government Housing Strategy that was released today provides a foundation for solutions to address the growing issues of affordable housing and homelessness. Queensland Council of Social Service (QCOSS) welcomes the Government’s commitment to a ten year outlook and to providing approximately 4,000 new social or affordable dwellings for Queenslanders. We also applaud the introduction of the Housing and Homelessness Research Alliance to support evidence based policy development. Our hope is that this group will be able to establish outcomes for housing and homelessness while focusing attention on what needs to be achieved and benchmarking performance measures.
