This year’s Seniors Week (August 19 to 27) will see Queensland’s peak body for older people celebrate its 60th birthday following a public forum on Creating Age-friendly Communities.
Council on the Ageing (COTA) Queensland will host the forum at Brisbane City Hall on Monday 21 August, where the Minister for Seniors, the Honourable Coralee O’Rourke, will officially launch the week-long state-wide celebrations.
Keynote speaker John Byrne is a change agent and specialist adviser in urban design, planning, policy and housing. John is a strong advocate for social sustainability and creating communities that provide opportunities for people of all ages to grow and prosper.
Dr Kathleen Brasher, a foundation member of the Strategic Advisory Group for the WHO Global Age-friendly Cities and Communities Network, will also share her knowledge and thoughts on creating liveable communities for people of any age.
More information, including a full program, will be available shortly but in the mean time you can register your interest in attending the Creating Age-friendly Communities forum by emailing Rebecca Buck at firstname.lastname@example.org
