The 2011 QCOSS conference was a huge success. Presentations and notes are being posted. It was a time to reconnect after the disasters of the summer and to plan for an even more resilient future. And it was a time to assess whether fairness is still on the public agenda. Thanks to all presenters, members and friends for making it what it was!

The 2011 QCOSS conference was a huge success. Presentations and notes are being posted. It was a time to reconnect after the disasters of the summer and to plan for an even more resilient future.
Speakers:
- gave reflections and guidance on the recovery and inform our approach to local planning based on interstate and international experience focus on the needs of people experiencing disadvantage – and tangible ways to improve lives (across a range of areas including homelessness, family support, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child protection)
- built our skills towards more client-centred, resilient service delivery – stronger human resource development, improved business processes, more streamlined performance reporting, and
- debated whether fairness is still on the public agenda – and how you can inform and push advocacy locally.
Participants:
- expanded their thinking around Queensland’s disaster recovery and their role in local planning
- added interstate and international experiences to their practice knowledge (offered across a range of areas including homelessness, family support, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child protection)
- improved their service management skills in human resource development, business processes, performance reporting, and information and communication technology
- contributed to statewide advocacy about fairness – a ‘Fair Qld’ is a place where everyone is better off.
