This program aims to provide financial assistance to community groups hampered by financial hardships and providers of affordable housing in Brisbane. Successful applicants are credited a certain percentage of their annual general rates paid in the previous financial year. The actual percentage received is dependent upon the demands on the program.
Applicants may receive:
- Community organisations and not-for-profit housing organisations
a) Organisations and clubs with a leisure and lifestyle focus: Up to a maximum of 25% of their general rates.
b) Organisations with a community services focus: Up to a maximum of 50% of their annual general rates.
- Other providers of affordable housing: Up to a maximum of 50% of their annual general rates.
The rebate is calculated over the full 12 month period and will be credited in the first rate account following notification of the assessment outcomes. This will most likely occur as a credit against the March/April rates account.
Eligible activities include:
- For community groups: Providing a community service, activity or facility for the benefit of the residents of Brisbane and whose ability to do this is hampered by financial hardship.
- For providers of affordable housing in Brisbane: Assisting people on low incomes to obtain reasonably priced rental residential accommodation.
